On April 28, local time, a major explosion occurred in the engine room of Maersk Sana, a large container ship operated by Maersk, approximately 254 nautical miles east of Bermuda in the Atlantic Ocean. The incident resulted in three crew members sustaining serious injuries. The ship also lost power and is now adrift.It is reported that the vessel is currently serving the trans-Pacific TP11 route, with its scheduled ports of call being: Hai Phong, Ningbo, Shanghai, Lazaro Cardenas, Charleston, Savannah, and New York.

Maersk has stated that the preliminary cause of the explosion is attributed to "mechanical-related issues," and a thorough investigation is underway. Due to the remote location of the incident, rescue operations are challenging, and significant delays are expected for the ship's future voyages.
