A container ship caught fire!

Release time: 2025-08-20   Browsing:109次
On the morning of 13 August 2025, a fire broke out on the ultra-large container ship "Marie Maersk", operated by Maersk, in the waters off West Africa. The ship has a capacity of 19,076 TEU and was en route from the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands to the Port of Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia at the time of the incident. The crew efficiently initiated emergency procedures to contain the fire. The vessel is currently stable, and all crew members are safe. The incident may result in delays to subsequent schedules. We advise cargo owners to monitor developments.
The Dutch SMIT Rescue Company has joined the rescue efforts, with tugboats assisting the vessel in slowly heading towards the Liberian coast. HPL has confirmed that the vessel's propulsion and navigation systems remained unaffected; however, the full extent of cargo damage is yet to be determined. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but it is possible that incorrect cargo declarations may have played a role. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of accuracy in shipping safety declarations. Whether intentional concealment or negligence, incorrect declarations can lead to severe consequences, endangering crew, vessel and environmental safety.
