On October 18, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Said that Tehran’s “seven-day plan” presented to the United States remains valid. The United States has responded, and Iran is reviewing its reply. If Washington accepts conditions including lifting the blockade on Iranian ports, removing sanctions on Iranian oil exports, and halting hostile actions in the region, the Strait of Hormuz could reopen on the sixth day and negotiations could resume on the seventh. Araghchi said Iran’s conditions are clear and based on previous U.S. commitments under a memorandum of understanding, but he questioned Washington’s sincerity. Talks remain stalled because the United States has not fully addressed all seven conditions. Another disagreement concerns the sequence of negotiations: Iran wants the strait and navigation security addressed first, while the United States insists on starting with curbs on uranium enrichment and emphasizes concrete actions rather than verbal commitments.
